water control the problem the solution the installation

Try as we might, there is no way to avoid a dusty mess when installing a basement water control system; preparation of the basement is very important. We recommend a plan for removing all items that can be removed and then we cover the rest in plastic. In most cases the whole job only takes a couple of days, from start to finish, with minimal disruption at a very reasonable cost.

1. First our crew jackhammers around the perimeter of the basement removing approximately 18 inches of the floor from the wall. The finest equipment is used and our crews pay special attention to ensure the footing of the foundation is undamaged. All trenches are dug by hand and sloped toward the sump basket. The dirt and debris are removed via rubber buckets and wheelbarrows and hauled away by our trucks for recycling.

2. Drainage holes are then drilled in each and every cavity of the block foundation. This allows water to flow freely into the drain field, draintile and sump basin where it can be efficiently pumped away from the house.

3. We install rigid PVC pipe to ensure an even downward slope to the sump basket. Rigid pipe is superior to flexible pipe, in part because the drainage holes are bigger. Minerals from the water can bridge the small gaps in flexible pipe reducing the efficiency of the draintile. Washed rock is installed around the draintile as a filter medium.

4. Our patented Diamond Drainage Board is then installed.  Application of this patented product provides the homeowner with many benefits over conventional methods.  It facilitates the unrestricted flow of water from the block, across the footing and into the drainage field.  It eliminates the concern of sediment blockage in the small openings of tubes and other products.  Diamond Drainage Board allows for replacement of concrete to the same thickness as the original floor with positive contact to the footing and wall.  It also resolves the need for an "open gap" between the floor and wall for moisture barrier installation.

5. A moisture barrier is placed over the rock in preparation for the new cement and to prevent moisture from wicking up from the system. The new concrete is put in place and professionally finished. We are so confident in our process that we stamp our name in every job we do; right in the concrete next to the sump basin.

On average all of this can be done in just two days with minimal disruption to the homeowner and at a very reasonable cost.

6. Our service marked Superior Sump System includes a sump basket that is manufactured from structural plastic with a steel cover bolted to the top for controlled access and safety. The sump pump is the highest quality available. This is a premium grade, totally automatic submersible pump with check valve and high water alarm. Two discharge pipes are installed on every job to facillitate the installation of a battery back up system.  When the Superior Sump System is combined with our service marked Seamless Discharge System you have a state of the art draintile solution; available exclusively from Standard Water Control.
